HBO Promises We’re Getting Our Deadwood Movie… Eventually
Looks like we’ve done it, finally: HBO has confirmed we’ll be getting our Deadwood movie! The only question is… when?
The attempt to get a Deadwood movie off the ground has been in the works for a while–cast member Garret Dillahunt has been especially vocal about his desire to resurrect the critically-acclaimed series–and now the show will be getting the send-off it deserves. The show originally ran for three seasons before being cancelled in 2006, and brought many famous western historical figures to life including Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok.
Deadwood creator David Milch is currently in the middle of working on another project, but Michael Lombardo, HBO’s president of programming, has promised that the Deadwood movie is imminent at this point. At the very least, Lombardo was quoted as saying that Milch has the support of HBO and “our commitment that we are going to do it.”
So it’s coming! We just aren’t sure when, but there’s more hope attached now. Who would you like to see return to conclude their story on Deadwood?
